The Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD), with financial support from the European Union, has launched a Global Action to promote the social and solidarity economy (SSE) over the next 3 years.
The OECD is an international organisation that works to build better policies for better lives. Their goal is to shape policies that foster prosperity, equality, opportunity, and well-being for all by working with governments, policy-makers, and citizens.
As part of the OECD and EU strategic objectives to promote inclusive, smart, resilient and sustainable growth, the OECD Global Action aims to:
- support the SSE, including social enterprise development and internationalisation;
- raise awareness and capacity to build conducive national and local ecosystems for SSE development;
- promote knowledge and other exchanges at the international level.
Besides EU member states, targeted counties will also include Brazil, Canada, Korea, Mexico, India, and the U.S. By 2022, the Action shall deliver:
- Peer-learning partnerships to exchange knowledge and experiences on the SSE and social entrepreneurship;
- An international guide on legal frameworks for the SSE;
- An international guide on social impact measurement for the SSE.
Euclid Network, together with the OECD organised a webinar on Thursday, 9 April 2020 (14.00-15.30 CET) to get a first insight on the Global Action and understand how you could get involved. The agenda included two parallel workshops to discuss recent developments, persistent challenges and mutual learning opportunities on the topics of legal frameworks and social impact measurement for the SSE.

In a world where all countries and people are interconnected, the way forward is to strengthen international co-operation and make it more inclusive. It is as important as ever that the general public helps to shape public policy.
