Athina Fragkouli – Sakellaropoulou, Logopedist, is the President of the Executive Committee of the Society of Social Psychiatry P. Sakellaropoulos and the Institute for Mental Health for Adults and Children. For more than forty years she has worked in the field of community-based mental health services and has helped promote Greece’s psychiatric reform, and the deinstitutionalization and social/work integration of people with mental health problems, at a national and European level. Over the years she has done important work in the fields of: primary prevention and therapy for children, adolescents and adults, social and employment rehabilitation and empowerment of people with disabilities / psychosocial problems, human rights promotion, supervision, monitoring and evaluation for organizations using action research methodology and development of training programmes for mental health students, professionals and people with disabilities / psychosocial problems. Dr Frangouli – Sakellaropoulou actively participates in European networks and bodies promoting the rights of people with psychosocial problems, including Mental Health Europe, the European Disability Forum, Social Firms Europe – CEFEC and Asklepios Foundation.
