Originally from Portugal and now based in the Netherlands, Maria Inês joined Euclid Network as an Events Management Intern while completing her Master’s degree in Strategic Events Management at Breda University of Applied Sciences (BUas). Passionate about organisation, planning, and creating meaningful experiences, Maria saw her internship as an opportunity to combine her interest in events with a broader social impact mission.
“I always looked for an international organisation with a worldwide vision,” she explains. “And I think Euclid really has it.”
For Maria, the connection between strategic event management and social impact was a natural fit. Through Euclid Network’s work with social entrepreneurs and changemakers across Europe, she found an environment where events are not only about logistics and coordination, but also about creating meaningful connections and supporting positive change.
One of the projects she is most excited to contribute to is the Euclid Network Summit. Maria enjoyed being part of the process and gaining hands-on experience in organising a large-scale international event.
Alongside event management, the internship has also introduced her to new areas of work. She highlights how much she has learned about social impact, nonprofit organisations, and communications, particularly in areas such as social media and blog writing.
“It was something I was not really connected with yet,” she says about the social impact sector. “So I think it’s been really interesting.”
Maria also speaks warmly about Euclid Network’s collaborative and international working culture. Coming from a background outside the sector, she found the organisation’s emphasis on communication, teamwork, and knowledge sharing especially valuable.
“Because we have so many different nationalities in the team, it’s really interesting to see different ways of thinking,” she explains. “We’re always sharing ideas, opinions, and learning from each other.”
