Yesterday, the world marked International Women’s Day – a moment to celebrate the achievements of women everywhere and to reflect on the work still needed to achieve gender equality.
At Euclid Network, this day holds particular meaning. Across Europe and beyond, women in the social economy are leading powerful initiatives that address inequality, strengthen communities, and create sustainable solutions to the challenges our societies face.
Today, we want to shine a spotlight on the extraordinary women who are part of our Top 100 Women in Social Enterprise community.
Women Leading Change in the Social Economy
The Top 100 Women in Social Enterprise initiative celebrates women who are driving social innovation, building impactful enterprises, and transforming systems across Europe. Their work spans sectors from circular economy and climate action to inclusive employment, social finance, education, and community development.
But recognition is only the beginning. Our goal is to support these leaders with the skills, networks, and visibility needed to scale their impact.
Bridging the Gender Gap in AI
In the last two months of 2025, 35 women from the Top 100 community participated in a dedicated training programme designed to strengthen their capacity to use emerging technologies for social impact.
Through the AI Tides Training by Google.org, participants took part in the Elements of AI programme between November and December 2025, building essential knowledge and practical skills in artificial intelligence.
The training brought together women leaders from across Europe and included:
-
4 live weekly sessions on AI for Business
-
3 self-study modules to deepen knowledge and practical understanding
-
A peer learning network where participants exchanged ideas, experiences, and challenges
Why is this so important?
Women remain significantly underrepresented in the field of artificial intelligence. Globally, only around 22% of AI professionals are women, and within Europe’s social innovation ecosystem the number of women-led organisations using AI remains even lower.
Equipping women leaders with AI knowledge is therefore not only about technology – it is about ensuring that the future of innovation reflects diverse perspectives and addresses real societal needs.
From Learning to Impact
The women who took part in the training are already exploring how AI can support their missions – from improving service delivery and analysing social impact data to identifying patterns in complex social challenges.
By combining technological literacy with social innovation expertise, these leaders are helping ensure that AI is used responsibly, ethically, and for the benefit of communities.
A New Campaign: Stories of Impact
To continue celebrating these inspiring women, we are launching a new campaign highlighting the work of the Top 100 Women in Social Enterprise.
Over the coming weeks, we will share:
-
The projects and organisations they lead
-
Their personal journeys as social innovators
-
How they are using new tools – including AI – to scale impact
-
The lessons they have learned along the way
These stories are not only a celebration of individual achievements, they are also a reminder that women are shaping the future of social innovation in Europe.
