We are pleased to announce that Euclid Network has been re-elected to the Expert Group on Social Economy and Social Enterprises (GECES) of the European Commission for the upcoming mandate from 2024 to 2030. Our CEO, Wieteke Dupain, will represent Euclid Network alongside other key leaders from social economy and social enterprise networks, as well as government representatives.
Since 2018, Euclid Network has been a vital voice in the GECES, advocating for social economy organisations and enterprises. During this new term, the group will focus on several crucial tasks:
- to assist the Commission in relation to the implementation of the measures envisaged in the Commission’s Communication: ‘Building an economy that works for people: an action plan for the social economy’ (on the Social Economy Action Plan);
- to advise the Commission on how to best implement policy measures in the field of industrial policy for social economy, in particular the development of the Transition Pathway for the ‘Proximity and Social Economy’ industrial ecosystem (14 industrial ecosystems in total);
- to assist the Commission by providing advice and expertise on the follow-up to the implementation of the Council recommendation on developing social economy framework conditions in Member States (read more on the National Strategies Member States here and here);
- to assist the Commission in the preparation of legislative proposals and policy initiatives in the field of social economy and social enterprise;
- to reflect on how to best incorporate social economy and social enterprise issues in the Commission’s policies and funding;
- to bring about an exchange of experience and good practice in the field of social economy and social enterprise and contribute to awareness-raising.
We also extend our congratulations to SEND Germany, a fellow member of Euclid Network, on their election to GECES. We look forward to a productive and impactful collaboration with the European Commission over the next six years.
